How to rip a SACD CD ?

Post by turner6 » Wed Nov 06, 2019 2:16 am

Hello,

Please, excuse me, this is certainly a stupid question but I am really confused about how to rip a SACD CD.
On the back cover of every SACD CD, I read the label SACD Stereo, SACD Surround Sound and CD audio.
The only soundtrack I would like to rip is the 5.1 SACD Surround Sound.

What are the best options to convert this SACD Surround Sound (5.1) to FLAC 5.1 ?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello,

The short answer is: you can NOT not rip the SACD (layer). The 5.1 channel audio is contained in the SACD (layer) of the disc.

You can only rip the CD (stereo) layer from a SACD (Hybrid) disc with EZ CD.

All CD 'ripping' programs rip 'CD' (layer) data... not SACD (layer) data.

Computer CD/DVD/BD drives cannot read the SACD layer of the SACD but can read the CD-DA layer of the hybrid SACD. I.e. ripping a hybrid SACD with EZ CD Audio Converter rips the CD-DA layer of the disc.

Ripping SACD is possible with some standalone SACD players and with old PlayStation3. Ripping SACD requires special methods and tools.

Make Google search for "ripping SACD" to find further information.

EZ CD Audio Converter can convert DSD tracks (stereo and multichannel) from SACD ISO (.iso) file to any supported output format.
