A Linux version !!

Post by armagedon51 » Fri Jul 10, 2015 5:21 am

I have been using EZ for ages on windows and was very happy with it. I am switching to Linux (Mint kde) and I was wondering if there is a plan for a port. A lot of windows users are unhappy with the direction Microsoft is heading and there is a regain of interest in Linux. I try to run the windows version with wine on Linux bud sadly it report an error and abort. I have been able to use most of the windows programs with wine but not Ez.
So this is my wish. an EZ Linux version.

Tanks

It's not possible to port the software to Linux because it is strictly tied to the Windows API. :(

Hello,

I joined this forum for this purpose exactly : to make EZ workable in Linux Mint. I'm one of the many unhappy Windows users and I'm beginning to play with Mint - and having a great time doing so ! Now, instead of requesting a Linux version of EZ, I was thinking of using Wine to install EZ in Mint. I read on the Wine website that EZ had been tried, but the success rate was very poor. Regardless, I installed EZ in Wine, and I haven't been able to start EZ successfully because I'm getting some DLL error messages. Now, I'd be more than glad to get back to work and report more precise informations to this forum if that could help and finalize a successful install in a Linux environment. What do you say ? Does anyone out there have good news ? Let's make EZ available to the free world :D

+1

I recently switched to Linux on my laptop, and one of the software I miss the most is EZ CD Audio Converter.
I tried fre:ac as an alternative, and it's quite powerful, but it really lacks in user friendliness, and simply put is no contender to EZ.

Dear poiko, I understand porting the codebase to be cross-platform would probably not be worth the effort.
But would it be possible to make it more Wine-friendly ?

Currently both EZ CD Audio Converter and EZ Meta Tag Editor fail miserably on the latest wine.

I'd be more than happy to buy it again with full Linux/Wine support ;)
