Hi poiko,
i was tagging a batch of files today and was reminded of something i would very much like:
the option to automatically create the directory structure as i would like it, without reconverting the files.
Lets say i want a directory structure like this:
<Album Artist>\[<Year>] <Album>\<Number> <Title>
This should be possible from within the Rename files-function.
And, while im at it, add a second option both here and in the conversion target dir for compilation albums so i can add, say <Artist name> in the file name for compilation albums automatically.
To a layman both of these seem reasonably simple to add?

That would be a nice addition.
In the meantime though, you could use the free tool, MP3tag (if you don't already know about it).

Poiko, I hope this isn't advertising since it's a free program, I'm not affiliated with them. Let me know and I will never mention them again.

Re: Extend File renamer function
Thanks Bob, i know there are other apps out there that does this. It's just that i find Easy CD Converter to be the most complete solution for converting and tagging, and fast too.
Any thoughts @Poiko on the possibilitiy of having file renamer function also be able to help in restructuring the folder structure for our collections?
And adding a second option for the filenaming scheme if the album in question is a compilation?
(Many other apps support this)
Allthe best
/Mike
Or perhaps just add a "Do not convert" option to the list of available formats in Audio converter?

I would also love to see such functionalities!
Thats why I posted almost the same idea back in January 2015. Yeah we could all just use MP3Tag, but it would really be a nice if you just can do it all with a single Software, right?
Have a good one!

Re: Extend File renamer function
I would +1 this idea. I just used the program to re-tag a few albums that were messed up in my library but when I tried to rename the files, it ignores anything before the '\'
Here is what i put in the Rename dialog: "<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Disc Number>-<Number> - <Title>" but all it did was rename the files in the flat folder with the Disc Number 0 and then track number.
It would also be cool if you could support options so that if it was a compilation CD that you could optionally put it in a "Compilations" folder like iTunes does AND if the album is not multi-disc meaning that it is Disc 0 then it just doesn't put in the Disc Number.
I could live without the other 2 nice to haves but the ability to support folder creation is a must have to make the "Rename" function useful for me.

This is still a very much wanted feature! EZ CD works beautifully i many ways and i see very few reasons to look elsewhere for similar tools.
But the option to rename both files and directories would be highly appreciated!

I have to agree with AlfaGTV. I'm still waiting for this feature. I guess programming such a rename functionality would not even be that time consuming for an skilled programmer, such as Poiko is.
Sometimes it feels like this wishlist does not even get any real attention, and there is very little progress. I personally would even pay something for that feature.

Re: Extend File renamer function
I'd still love to see an extended "File renaming" function that includes the folder names! That would help us a lot when structuring a bigger library.
Hoping for this Poiko!
