Does not support my CDROM

Post by kady » Fri Mar 06, 2020 10:27 am

My CDROM plays music CDs. There is no normal music sound, but a popping or clicking sound. But playing and grabbing in EAC software are normal.
CDROM is IBM CDRM00203 1_00 (plextor PX-32TSi, the system is shown as IBM model CDRM00203 1_00) and IBM CDRM00203 1_05 (plextor PX-40TSi, the system is shown as IBM model CDRM00203 1_05)

Have you enabled Error Detection mode in Settings / Audio CD Ripper / Drive Settings ? Or running with defaults ?

Does the problem occur when you PLAY the CD with the embedded CD player ? Or is the problem with the audio files created when you RIPPED the CD ?

Those are excellent drives you have, I used lot of those when I was creating my CD ripping software 20 years ago. (Those are 20 year old drives)

"Enabled Error Detection mode" is the same as the default, with a click. It does not work whether it is playing a CD or a RIPPED CD. Are there no IBM data in the two CD libraries? (Only the information of plextor, but it cannot be correctly identified as plextor)

I think the PX-32TSi and PX40TSi CD-ROM (SCSI) drives are no longer supported because they are so old (over 20 years) and they do not support the standard read command that is required for error detective ripping method. They support reading CD-DA in normal mode using special old Plextor command, but we no longer support the old technology.

But these are all very classic CD-ROM drives, which are very suitable for capture, I hope to support, thank you

I changed to a plextor original PX-40TSi (non-OEM), but it still does n’t work, or it only clicks, and I ca n’t capture it.

I have a 'newer' drive myself and the database didn't find it. [LG WH16NS60]
It's +6 offset.

Unfortunately, EZ CD Audio Converter supports only drives that conform to MMC (multimedia commands for optical devices) specification. 20 years old Plextor uses their own vendor specific READ CD command and does not support error detection.

The database is updated within 1-2 month intervals as we receive more data for the drive's features.

Unfortunately Plextor PX-40TSi does not support error reporting or C2 data error reporting.
