Opus sample rate in EZCD?

Post by blabibo » Wed Jan 30, 2019 1:49 pm

I recently converted some 16/44 FLAC files into OPUS VBR 128. But when I load those converted files into EZCD, they show some strange info: no bit depth and 48kHz sampling rate. Mediainfo says 44kHz but Foobar says 48kHz. What's to be believed? edit: I just read that Opus always upsamples to 48kHz, is that true?

Opus is always 48 kHz. (i.e. does not support other sample rates)

The original sample rate (where it was converted from) is written to the file header and it seems like MediaInfo shows the header information.

Lossy formats such as Opus, AAC, MP3, Vorbis, do not have a Bit Depth property.

Lossy formats are usually decoded to 32-bit float accuracy and translated to 24-bit or 16-bit for playback.

Thanks for the reply :)

Do you know what kind of metadata can be saved in Opus files? Same as for MP3?

All metadata can be included in Opus file format. It uses the same metadata format as FLAC and Vorbis.
