Can you add the Pre-Emphasis info to the rip LOG?

Post by aacton » Mon Apr 01, 2019 4:37 pm

Greetings,

Would it be possible to add the Pre-Emphasis information for a CD to the to the log for each track?

Should be no problem to do it. I added this to TODO-list.

Greetings,

Great!

I have checked several ripping (Windows) programs and so far I have not found any that record the Pre-emphasis status in the ripping report.

This could be a new unique feature of EZ CD :)

Cheers,
Andrew

Is this the correct way to implement it ? De-emphasis works fine and audio quality is superb.

Greetings,

This is great. :D :D

"ON" for those that want the ripped files saved and de-emphasis permanently applied.
"OFF" for those that want to manage the ripped files later (with a metadata TAG in my case).

The "RIP LOG" you now produce will allow me to easily SCAN (one time) for any tracks that were found with PRE-EMPHASIS (sub-code) ON.
Of course the 'ultimate' solution would be to write a TAG automatically when ripping called "PRE_EMPAHSIS" with value "Yes" for those files ripped and saved that NEED further de-emphasis processing by the player.

But I shall not ask for more, this is a great improvement!

I have a TEST CD with identical music mastered with the pre-emphasis ON and OFF to allow a listening comparison of the result ... if you would like me to run a check on a pre-release code version, just let me know.

Andrew

Typo PRE_EMPAHSIS ->>>> PRE_EMPHASIS

I am working on the feature/option 'Do not write metadata' to the output files. I will post you a test version, when it has been finished.

Here you are.

Please tell me how does it sound.

Spectrum analyzer shows that the de-emphasis filter is correct and accurate.

Greetings!

Downloaded and tested, looks great (RIP LOG) and results (listening) sound 'correct' to me :D :D

RUN1 (AUTO de-emph ON)
[X] 37 56:49.73 01:14.00 255748 261297 Pre-emphasis: De-emphasized
[X] 38 58:03.73 01:16.00 261298 266997

RUN2 (Auto de-emph OFF)
[X] 37 56:49.73 01:14.00 255748 261297 Pre-emphasis
[X] 38 58:03.73 01:16.00 261298 266997

The test CD has the same music track on 2 successor tracks. One has pre-emphasis (and the bit ON) so it needs de-emphasis. The next track is the same music with no need for pre-emphasis (and so bit OFF).

I ran the extract 2 times:
1) With the NEW AUTO de-empahsis ENABLED
2) With the NEW AUTO de-empahsis DISABLED

The LISTENING was correct and the SPECTRGRAM (attached pic) look correct.

From my side, THANK YOU again :D
